Enhancement: Sub Line Counters on Create a Report

It was suggested in today's DARTBOARD class that a new feature be added to the "Create a Report" drilldown option. In addition to the option of invoking a Line Counter to be prefixed for each detail line, it is now possible to have a running counter on any field that requests to have a Subtotal, Page Break, Underline, or Skip Line. You must first check "Line Cnt" in order to activate this new feature. Below is a sample from the Academic Study template:

The BITS Office wants to help you achieve your reporting goals

Over the past year, numerous reporting templates have been developed and they may be just the ones you need to access to see your data. See the "What is on the DARTBOARD" report for a detailed listing of available reports you can run today. Access to all reporting templates is dependent upon your Banner security access.

Classes are offered periodically throughout the year. Please contact the BITS Office to find out how to get started or for advanced DART BOARD users, you may want to request a meeting to build a new (or modify an existing) report template.

Contact Carol Sashi at sashi@fau.edu.

ENHANCEMENT: Future term Academic Study records now available

As requested from the COB, the Academic Study templates now contains future term records. Please note that these future term records will contain active as well as inactive students. Therefore you should expect to receive many more records (unless you apply your filters effectively) for these future academic period terms.

FIXED: Issue with inability to click to drilldown on Statistics

The inability to click usually on a count in order to drilldown from the Statistics output has now been corrected. The cause was a 2,000 character limitation on the number of parameters to be passed through a web browser. The Statistics program now minimizes the number of parameters being passed.

Why can't I see a report template?

The templates you see on DART BOARD is based upon your banner security access. If you do not see a report on the menu it is because your banner security access has limited it from you. You can go to the DART BOARD Welcome page and on the right hand side, run the report, What is on the DART BOARD? This report will show you all the available templates by application and business concept along with the banner security access required. You will then need to contact a Banner Security Officer, (i.e. not Carol Sashi) to grant you this access.

New Enhancement: Additional Filters

One of the limitations of the DARTBOARD was the fixed number of 7 filters that can be used on a template. In order to alleviate this, the "Freeform Filter In Parens" box was created so that users could type in their own filter. Now, there is an additional capability of a new box named "Additional Filters" which can be created with a dropdown list of predefined filters to select. Furthermore, it is also possible to multi-select these values for applying multiple filters to your query. The below query will select all currently enrolled freshman who are degree seeking and registered in the College of Business:

As on all DARTBOARD reports, the filters applied will be documented:

New Drilldown option on Academic Study Primary with GPA (ODS PROD)

A new drilldown option on the 'Academic Study Primary with GPA (ODS PROD)' template named 'Student Detail with email, lo-pr address, and telephone' is now available.

This will allow you to select the desired student population and generate a file in excel format which will include the student's preferred email address, an address (using local over permanent), and the local telephone.

Using the available dropdown on the launch page under the title will allow you to use a shortcut to generate this report with one-click.

STUDENT_CLASSIFICATION added to Student Course Schedule Study (ODS PROD)

STUDENT_CLASSIFICATION has been included as the last field under “Show Me All the Data” and “Create a Report” options.

Please note that because this column is located in a different view from the student_course view that access time has increased which will increase the wait time for the information to be returned to you. Let me know how this template performs and if it becomes a problem.

New Enhancement: Shortcut to Reports

The BITS Office is pleased to announce the additional DARTBOARD capability to run reports directly from the launch page. Reports such as "Show Me All the Data", "Create A Report", and all Custom Reports can now be pulled down directly under the Report title.

"Statistics" will remain the default and is the recommended report to run when you are unsure of the volume of records. Drilldown capabilities from the Statistics report will allow you to continue accessing the other reports.
This new enhancment will be applied to existing templates over the next two weeks.

New DART: Student GPA Analyzer

Do you need to know a Student GPA?

Do you need an overall GPA or a GPA for an academic period?

Do you need an Institutional (FAU), Transfer, or Overall GPA?

All these answers are available on the new DART: Student GPA Analyzer located under the Student tab, in the Business Concept, Student Detail to users with access to SHAINST.

Simply enter an ID, Name or use a MyLIST for the filter to begin.

Run the Statistics with Sorting on "ID" and "Academic Study Value" and Across Column "GPA Type" filtering on GPA Grouping, "Cumulative Values" to generate a report with GPAs and ID on one detail line.
